True Albino Teacher (TAT)
True Albino Teacher Magic Mushroom Information
The “True Albino Teachers,” also known as “TAT,” is a genetically mutated version of the Golden Teachers strain with distinct albinism traits. This particular variety of Psilocybe cubensis produces fruiting bodies that are pure white and have above-average potency.
- Origin: Golden Teacher Mutation
- Founder: JK Fibs
- Potency: Above Average
- Effects: Strong feelings of euphoria, connectedness, and deep contemplation.
Description
Summary:
The True Albino Teachers strain is a stunningly beautiful and nearly iridescent white mushroom variety. It was developed by a Shroomery user named “Jik Fibs,” who isolated the albino mutation while cultivating Golden Teachers. After a year of dedicated work and numerous generations, a strain was developed that produced fully albino mushrooms. When viewed under a microscope, the spores of this strain do not contain pigments, which is a characteristic of true albinism.
This mushroom produces medium-sized caps that are brilliant white in color and occasionally larger than other P. cubensis varieties. When dried, these mushroom bodies have a shiny and bright appearance, similar to white aluminum foil. It should be noted that in laboratory studies, the True Albino Teachers strain colonizes at a slower pace when compared to other P. cubensis strains and varieties.
How To Grow True Albino Teacher Magic Mushrooms
This sub-variety is considered moderately difficult to grow, making it a good starter strain for new growers. There are a variety of different ways to grow TAT mushrooms. Yet, the most beginner-friendly method is to fruit directly from the bag using an all-in-one bag such as this one from Mushroomsupplies.com. However, if you are looking for more hands-on experience, we would recommend using a grow-chamber setup using grain spawn and a manure-based substrate. We have found that the easiest grow chamber setup consists of using a tin container. You can read the full post on how to grow mushrooms using tin containers here. Below is a summary of this post:- Innoculate grain bag with 3-5cc of TAT liquid culture or spores via spore syringe.
- Store the inoculated grain bag in a dry area for colonization making sure to maintain a substrate temperature of 84-86. Colonizing mycelium generates its own heat, so an ambient room temperature in the high 70s is recommended.
- Once fully colonized, prepare the tin container and begin layering the substrate and colonized grain. Begin and end with a layer of the substrate.
- Set aside for re-colonization (10-14 days)
- Prepare the lid by adding fresh air holes and cover with micro-pore tape.
- Replace the lid and place the tin into fruiting conditions. Reduce the ambient temperatures to reduce the substrate temperatures to 74-78 degrees F.
- Mist the inside of the chamber lid when needed.
- Harvest
