Tidal Wave
Tidal Wave Magic Mushroom Information
Tidal Wave mushrooms are a potent and unique strain of magic mushrooms that are known for their high psilocybin content and fast-fruiting growth pattern. Created by crossing the B+ strain with the famed Penis Envy strain, Tidal Wave mushrooms have a unique appearance and are known for producing heavy visual hallucinations and intense euphoria during the initial stage while maintaining a sense of mental clarity. They are relatively easy to grow and can be grown using popular substrates such as rye grain, brown rice flour, and wild bird seed.

Description
Origin:
The Tidal Wave strain is a hybrid varient of the Psilocybe cubensis species that was created by crossing the B+ strain with the famed Penis Envy strain. The process of creating a new mushroom strain involves isolating the monokaryotic culture of the desired strains, which only have one set of DNA and cannot reproduce fruiting bodies on their own. These cultures produce dikaryotic mycelium that only grows mushrooms when introduced to another group of monokaryotic cultures. While this process doesn’t always result in a reliable new strain, it is often repeated to create stable genetics.
Tidal Wave Mushrooms Potency & Psilocybin Content
Tidal Wave mushrooms are known for their high potency, with a psilocybin average of 0.87% and a psilocin average of 0.27%. The total tryptamine average is 1.17%, making them above average but not nearly as potent as the record holder, Penis Envy. The highest total tryptamine content ever recorded was in a sample of Tidal Wave mushrooms submitted by Magic Myco Farm in the Spring 2021 cup, which contained a whopping 3.82% total tryptamines, a record that has yet to be broken.
Effects of Tidal Wave Mushrooms:
The trip effects of Tidal Wave are similar to those of other P. cubensis strains. While some claim that different strains produce unique trips, others believe the only difference is potency. Tidal Wave unique growth form is purely aesthetic and doesn’t alter the style of its trips. The effects are usually a combination of altered mood, perception, and thought patterns, with hallucinations being the most attention-grabbing aspect to non-users. However, the alteration of perception is dependent on the dose, and lower doses may result in altered mood and thought patterns without hallucinations. Higher doses can lead to intense hallucinations, but actual psychonauts are more interested in the alteration of thought patterns that can provide valuable insights.
Tidal Wave Potency:
This shroom is extraordinarily potent and considered the most potent variant of all known psilocybin Cubensis varieties. This strain recently won 1st and 2nd place in the Psilocybin Cup 2022 held in Oakland, California. Testing at 3.8 % tryptamine, to put that in context the average Cubensis has 0.7% tryptamine content. At these levels, the Enigma varient is nearly 4 times as potent as a typical Cubensis. So consume at your own risk.
Effects & Characteristics of Tidal Wave Mushrooms
Tidal Wave mushrooms have a unique appearance, with a color, size, and overall cap shape resembling the B+ strain and thick white bodies with tightly packed gills that resemble Penis Envy. The wavy edges on the cap give it an otherworldly look, and the strain is known for producing heavy visual hallucinations and intense euphoria during the initial stage while maintaining a sense of mental clarity.
How To Grow Tidal Wave Magic Mushrooms
Tidal Wave mushrooms are fast-fruiting and relatively easy to grow due to their inherent resistance to environmental contamination. They can be grown using popular substrates such as rye grain, brown rice flour, and wild bird seed. It’s recommended to use a Tidal Wave mushroom kit to make the growing process easier and improve your chances for success.
Compared to Penis Envy, which is highly susceptible to contamination, Tidal Wave seems much more robust. However, it’s still important to keep your growing area and equipment sterile to avoid contamination. Once you’ve inoculated your substrate with spores, it’s time to wait for the magic to happen.
When growing Tidal we would recommend using a grow-chamber setup using grain spawn and a manure-based substrate. We have found that the easiest grow chamber setup consists of using a tin container. You can read the full post on how to grow mushrooms using tin containers here. Below is a summary of this post:- Innoculate grain bag with 3-5cc of Tidal Wave liquid culture or spores via spore syringe.
- Store the inoculated grain bag in a dry area for colonization making sure to maintain a substrate temperature of 84-86. Colonizing mycelium generates its own heat, so an ambient room temperature in the high 70s is recommended.
- Once fully colonized, prepare the tin container and begin layering the substrate and colonized grain. Begin and end with a layer of the substrate.
- Set aside for re-colonization (10-14 days)
- Prepare the lid by adding fresh air holes and cover with micro-pore tape.
- Replace the lid and place the tin into fruiting conditions. Reduce the ambient temperatures to reduce the substrate temperatures to 74-78 degrees F.
- Mist the inside of the chamber lid when needed. Remember to keep the relative humidity at levels of 90-95% during fruiting.
- Harvest
