What are the easiest magic mushrooms to grow?”

–  If I had a nickle for every time I heard this question… I’d have a shitload of nickels.

So for the sake of convenience let’s put this in print.

There are over 200 mushroom species that contain the psychoactive compounds psilocybin and psilocin. While most of these strains can be cultivated by the home grower, we will be focusing on a few criteria for making our selections. These are…

  1. Common and easy to obtain
  2. Low maintenance
  3. Can be grown in a closet
  4. Is contamination resistant and forgiving with temperatures
  5. Beginner-friendly in both terms of cultivation and strength

With those considerations in mind, this article will focus on the Psilocybe Cubensis species of mushroom and identifying the 5 easiest P. Cubensis shroom varieties to grow

While all cubensis are genetically similar, are a few variants (subspecies, cross-breeds, isolations) which are easier to grow than others. To compile this list we ranked the different mushroom variants by the speed of mycelial growth, colonization speed, and contamination resistance.

With that out of the way, the five easiest psychedelic mushrooms to grow are:

Golden Teacher (Psilocybe Cubensis)

The Golden Teacher (Psilocybe Cubensis Golden Teacher) shrooms are known for their light golden caps, balanced effects, and their ease of cultivation. This variety is well domesticated and good for multi-spore, making it a good canadate for the first time grower.

B+ (Psilocybe Cubensis)

B+ mushrooms are a wonderful starter variety due to their ease of growth and profound social effects. Although they are a slower colonizer, this domesticated variety has shown to consistantly produce large fruits, is relativly resistant to contamination, and produces multiple impressive flushes with minimal effort.

Ecuadorian (Psilocybe Cubensis)

The Equidorian Mushroom Variety is excellent for new growers in both ease of cultivation and strength. The Equidorian is a domesticated variety, which produces impressive spore drops, making it great for multi-spore, and has impressive flushes. Orignally found growing at high altitudes in Equidor.

Alacabenzi (Psilocybe cubensis)

The Alacabenzi mushroom is another heavily domesticated varient which is favoured by cultivators due to its resistance to contamination, aggressive colonization, and large fruits.

Z Strain (Psilocybe Cubensis)

Reportadly an isolation of the Golden Teacher Mushroom, the Z strain is an aggressively colonizing strain that fruits prolifically often in dense patches. It is said to be higher in potency and a great beginner strain to grow.
